Site description
The site boundary is based upon a seaward extension of 5 km around National Park of American Samoa - Tutuila to encompass the foraging range of IBA threshold numbers of Common White Tern based upon a 1986 population estimate of 3,779 individuals, and high use areas for White-tailed Tropicbird based upon a 1986 population estimate of 463 individuals; and a seaward extension of 5 km around West Tutuila to encompass the foraging range of IBA threshold numbers of Common White Tern based upon a 1986 population estimate of 4,329 individuals, and high use areas for White-tailed Tropicbird based upon a 1986 population estimate of 616 individuals from Engbring, J.; Ramsey, F. L. (1989) A 1986 survey of the forest birds of American Samoa. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Pagopago.
