Site description
A large, shallow freshwater lake with associated grazed meadows and reedbeds and a small river valley.

Key biodiversity
An important staging area for Cygnus columbianus. Lower numbers of swans Cygnus recorded in recent years may be due to changes in census timings. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Haliaeetus albicilla (non-breeding).
