It originates from the Sâo Tomé e Principe Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and falls within the Atlantic, Eastern Central FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 20766 km2 and is 79 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 3155 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 1.55 m/s, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 26.63 and 27.29 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 0.19 and 0.4 mg/m3.
