The site comprises two large open raised bogs surrounded by predominantly mixed and coniferous forest. Initially listed as part of a larger IBA since 1994 [1, 2], it was later dropped from the list due to problems of merging, but now it qualifies under the IBA C criteria. Partially protected: there is a 89.2% overlap with Stompaku bogs restricted nature reserve, a candidate SPA.
