A mesotrophic freshwater lake. The southern part has reedbeds (Phragmites
) and borders an area of bog. There are also a lot of small lakes (c.1 ha) with reeds.

The area is a candidate Special Area for Conservation.
PartialIBA overlaps with Landscape Protected Area and Nature Reserve. IBA overlaps with Ramsar Site.
