Site description
An area of hills and mountains situated near to the Polish border. Coniferous forests of Picea and Abies are widespread, and extensive tracts of mesophile meadow and pasture occur on the edges of the IBA. The area is relatively uninhabited and on the whole remains unaffected by human activity, with tourism and recreation not as well developed as in other mountainous regions. Human activities include potato and cereal-growing, haymaking, sheep- and cattle-grazing and timber production.

Key biodiversity
An important site for species of forest and meadow grassland. Ciconia nigra, C. ciconia, Pernis apivorus, Tetrao tetrix, Bubo bubo, Jynx torquilla, Picus canus, Picoides tridactylus, Turdus torquatus, Sylvia nisoria, Parus cristatus, Lanius excubitor and Carduelis spinus also breed.
