Site summary
This upland site comprising of upland heath, bog and commercial forestry borders Limerick and Tipperary. It provides excellent nesting and foraging habitat for breeding Hen Harrier and supports c.5% of the national population. The site is also important for Birds Directive Annex I listed Falco peregrinus and Falco columbianus, and Red-listed Lagopus lagopus.
