Site description (2009 baseline):

Located in the south-western part of Rongshui County. The IBA has sections on both sides of the Mindong He river.

Non-bird biodiversity: Important plants include Halesia macgregorii. Animals include Andrias davidianus, Macaca thibetana and Viverricula indica.

Established as a county-level nature reserve in 1982. The reserve was a state-owned commercial forest in 1965, which later changed its name to ‘nature reserve’ because the forest was subsequently protected as a watershed. There is no special reserve management department.
