It originates from the Iran, Islamic Republic of Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and falls within the Indian Ocean, Western FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 5269 km2 and is 22 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 101 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 1.12 m/s and mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 27.56 and 27.83 °C.
2 species trigger IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. Seaward extensions around breeding colony; Sheedvar island include key near-colony areas for breeding populations of Socotra Cormorant (VU) 98-240 individuals and White-cheeked Tern (LC) 37500-765000 individuals.
