Semi-natural wet meadows in a river valley (100-500 m wide) with some Salix bushes and small ponds. Floods are seasonal but irregular and the meadows have varied water regimes. Grazing and haymaking take place at low intensity.
The area supports one of the highest breeding densities of Crex crex in Lithuania, with the meadows in the Kaiiadorys district providing particularly suitable habitat.
