Sartai Regional Park and Rokiskis Fishponds

Site description
Sartai lake is adjacent to the Rokiškis fish-ponds. The lake is large and long, with reedbeds, and is surrounded by mixed forests.

Key biodiversity
An important site for Chlidonias niger. Breeding species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Haliaeetus albicilla (1-2 pairs), Crex crex (more than 10 pairs).

Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Threats are varied. The fish-ponds are used intensively which poses a threat through drastic changes in habitat, e.g. ponds may be drained at the time of year when they are most important for birds.

National High International None12,565 ha of IBA covered by Regional Park (Sartai, 12,565 ha).
