An eutrophic freshwater lake with reedbeds, surrounded by forest, heathland and agricultural land.
Numbers of breeding and wintering birds have declined due to deteriorating water quality. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Haliaeetus albicilla (max. 2, non-breeding). Pernis apivorus, Dryocopus martius and Lullula arborea, listed on Annex I of the EC Birds Directive, breed at the site.
