This Marine IBA is identified using seaward extensions around breeding colonies. It originates from the Peru Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and falls within the Pacific, Southeast FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 3427 km2 and borders the coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 1209 m, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 16.89 and 19.45 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 1.58 and 5.37 mg/m3.
