Site description
A large area of fish-ponds, established in the 11th-12th century, between the Rivers Saale and Weisse Elster. They have associated water-fringe vegetation, bogs and broadleaved deciduous forest.

Key biodiversity
This is an important site for breeding ducks, raptors and species associated with reedbeds.
