It originates from the Jamaica Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and falls within the Atlantic, Western Central FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 19902 km2 and is 44 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 2271 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 1.87 m/s, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 27.78 and 28.08 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 0.1 and 0.36 mg/m3.

Seaward extensions around breeding colony; Pedro Cays and Bank include key near-colony areas for breeding populations of Bridled Tern (LC) 500-1600 individuals, Brown Booby (LC) 3000-4800 individuals, Masked Booby (LC) 240-2550 individuals and Magnificent Frigatebird (LC) 4000-4000 individuals.
