The site comprises a reservoir on the Severskiy Donec river with adjoining semi-natural broadleaved deciduous woodland. Human activities include forestry, fishing, cattle-grazing, hunting and recreation.

Breeding species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Haliaeetus albicilla (min. 2 pairs).
