Site description
This Marine IBA is identified using seaward extensions around breeding colonies. It originates from the Panama Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and falls within the Pacific, Eastern Central FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 5255 km2 and borders the coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 101 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 1.35 m/s and mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 26.59 and 27.68 °C.

Key biodiversity
1 species triggers IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. Seaward extensions around breeding colonies; Pearl Archipelago, Chimán Islands include key near-colony areas for breeding populations of Brown Pelican (LC) 5570-8910 individuals.
