Site description
This Marine IBA is identified using tracking data. It falls within the New Zealand Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the Pacific, Southwest FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 22570 km2 and is 389 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 98 to 3659 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 2.57 m/s, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 8.33 and 9.87 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 0.22 and 0.45 mg/m3.

Key biodiversity
2 species trigger IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. BirdLife analyses of tracking data estimates that 34071-68143 individuals of Grey Petrel (NT) from Antipodes Islands are present at the site during the Breeding (Mar-Dec) life-history stage. 52941-148235 individuals of White-chinned Petrel (VU) from Antipodes Islands are present at the site during the Breeding (Oct-May) life-history stage.
