Site description
This Marine IBA is identified using tracking data. It falls within the Peru Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the Pacific, Southeast FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 263829 km2 and borders the coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 7150 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 1.88 m/s, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 15.32 and 20.81 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 0.24 and 6.64 mg/m3.

Key biodiversity
5 species trigger IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. BirdLife analyses of tracking data estimates that 3366-4987 individuals of Waved Albatross (CR) from Isla Espanola are present at the site during the Incubation (Apr-Aug) life-history stage. 72000-160000 individuals of White-chinned Petrel (VU) from Antipodes Islands are present at the site during the Non-breeding (Jun-Aug) life-history stage. 3600-8182 individuals of Cook's Petrel (VU) from Codfish Island/Whenua Hou are present at the site during the Non-breeding (May-Aug, Oct) life-history stage. 3960-9240 individuals of Chatham Albatross (VU) from Chatham Islands/Rekohu/Wharekauri are present at the site during the Non-breeding (Apr-May) life-history stage. 860-896 individuals of Salvin's Albatross (VU) from Snares Islands/Tini Heke are present at the site during the Non-breeding (Feb-Jun) life-history stage.
