Site description
This Marine IBA is identified using tracking data. It falls within High Seas International Waters and the Pacific, Northwest FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 39299 km2 and is 335 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 3473 to 5777 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 2.23 m/s, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 12.15 and 17.5 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 0.36 and 0.76 mg/m3.

Key biodiversity
1 species triggers IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. BirdLife analyses of tracking data estimates that 3750000-4166667 individuals of Sooty Shearwater (NT) from New Zealand are present at the site during the Non-breeding (May-Jul) life-history stage.
