This Marine IBA is identified using seaward extensions around breeding colonies. It originates from the Netherlands Antilles Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and falls within the Atlantic, Western Central FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 686 km2 and borders the coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 759 m, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 26.96 and 27.2 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 0.19 and 0.31 mg/m3.

Seaward extensions around breeding colonies; San Nicolas Bay Reef Islands, Oranjestad Reef Islands include key near-colony areas for breeding populations of Roseate Tern (LC) 49-214 individuals, Common Tern (LC) 54-143 individuals and Sandwich Tern (LC) 3380-11210 individuals.
