Site description
This Marine IBA is identified using seaward extensions around breeding colonies. It originates from the Namibia Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and falls within the Atlantic, Southeast FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 5988 km2 and borders the coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 154 m, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 13.41 and 15.51 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 1.25 and 8.7 mg/m3.

Key biodiversity
3 species trigger IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. Seaward extensions around breeding colony; Orange river mouth wetlands include key near-colony areas for breeding populations of Cape Cormorant (NT) 1247-14250 individuals, Damara Tern (NT) and Kelp Gull (LC) 255-450 individuals.
