This Marine IBA is identified using seaward extensions around breeding colonies. It originates from the Guadeloupe (to France) Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and falls within the Atlantic, Western Central FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 28 km2 and borders the coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 216 m, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 27.63 and 27.63 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 0.13 and 0.13 mg/m3.
1 species triggers IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. Seaward extensions around breeding colony; Northern cliffs and the Vieux-Fort islet of Marie-Galante include key near-colony areas for breeding populations of Red-billed Tropicbird (LC) 450-900 individuals.
