A mountainous IBA with a mixture of forest and, above 1,900 m, alpine pasture. Below 1,700 m Picea forest dominates and is replaced between 1,700-1,900 m by mixed stands of Larix, Picea and Pinus. In most places the forests are intensively managed, with many open areas as a result of historical grazing. Above the treeline, large areas of subalpine and alpine pasture occur.
An important area for breeding and resident species characteristic of subalpine forest and alpine pasture.
