The IBA is situated in the western part of the Fergana valley. The Pap forestry is a typical bottomland forest located along the bank of the river Syrdarya and includes the IBA.
The avifauna includes 150 species. Among the more interesting are wintering raptors - Accipiter gentilis, Buteo lagopus and Buteo buteo. Phasianus colchicus turkestanicus is numerous. Many species of Passeriformes can be found in the bottomland forest during migration. The biome-restricted Otus brucei, Dendrocopus leucopterus, Parus bokharensis and Hippolais languida occur, plus Nycticorax nycticorax and Ciconia ciconia.
Non-bird biodiversity: There are typical bottomland forest plants: Populus sp., Salix sp. and a small part is covered by Tamarix sp. Mammals are represented by Lepus tolai, Canis aureus, Vulpes vulpes and some rodents (Meriones tmariscinus, Mus musculus, Rattus norvegicus).
