Site description
An area of partly wet heathland and fen, with two valleys which support woodland. Woodland stands consist of deciduous/mixed woodlands and conifer plantations of various ages and under varying management regimes. The site is situated along the German border, east of the city of Roermond.

Key biodiversity
This site has been included because it concerns a designated Special Protection Area. In the national IBA review this site was included as the fifth most important site nationally for Caprimulgus europaeus but it has now lost this position, after the addition of Brabantse Wal (105) as an IBA.
