Site description
A stagnant shallow freshwater lake with reedbeds and wet meadows, which was cut off from the Oosterschelde (028) in 1983. It is adjacent to the Zoommeer (029) in the north-west, with the city of Bergen op Zoom at the north-eastern border, and the Schelde-Rhine river connection at the west side. This site, together with sites 028 and 029, formed part of a single, larger site (former site NL050) in the previous pan-European IBA inventory (Grimmett and Jones 1989).
Key biodiversity
The site is a roost for geese Anser from surrounding feeding areas, but no counts are available.
