An area of hills in the northern part of the Krupinská plateau. The majority of the IBA is covered by extensively managed grassland, mixed forest and scrub. The IBA has been used for many years as a military training area, and contains few human settlements.
The IBA supports a variety of birds that breed in grassland, scrub and forest habitats. Columba oenas, Caprimulgus europaeus, Jynx torquilla, Dendrocopos medius, Lullula arborea, Locustella fluviatilis, Ficedula albicollis and Phoenicurus phoenicurus also breed.
