Site summary
This site includes the upper part of Lake Geneva, with areas of both artificial and natural shoreline, and the partly degraded delta of the River Rhône, with reedbeds, alluvial forests and fens.
An important site for wintering waterbirds, moulting ducks and migrating waders.
One of the main threats is erosion of the shoreline in the delta. Agricultural intensification and drainage, recreational activities, and afforestation with poplar and pine plantations are also major threats.
