Lake Fundata lies in the Reviga valley. The southern part of the lake is brackish whereas the northern part is fresh and holds most of the aquatic vegetation; few fish species are present. Water depth reaches 5 m and the shores are generally steep. The lake is surrounded by arable land with a village to the east.
This is an important site for roosting, wintering and passage waterbirds. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Phalacrocorax pygmeus (passage), Branta ruficollis (wintering) and Aythya nyroca (non-breeding).
