Site description
A large freshwater lake with sparse water-fringe vegetation and surrounding wet meadows, located to the south-west of the city of Sneek, and close to Lake Oudegaasterbrekken (061). This site, together with site 061, formed part of a single, larger site (former site NL017) in the previous pan-European IBA inventory (Grimmett and Jones 1989).

Key biodiversity
This is an important roost for geese Anser from surrounding feeding areas. Waterbird numbers quoted are rough estimates.
