Kinveachy Forest

Site description
The principal stands of this remnant Caledonian pine Pinus sylvestris forest lie south-west of Carrbridge on either side of the River Dulnain. The stocking is irregular, with dense stands of mature woodland separated by open moorland with scattered trees. Broadleaved woodland, Juniperus scrub, moorland, wet heathland and fen areas occur within the forest. The site is notable for breeding pinewood species.
