This Marine IBA is identified using seaward extensions around breeding colonies. It originates from the Chile Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and falls within the Pacific, Southeast FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 2546 km2 and is 629 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 3598 m, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 16.41 and 16.82 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 0.24 and 0.45 mg/m3.

Seaward extensions around breeding colonies; Isla Santa Clara, Isla Robinson Crusoe include key near-colony areas for breeding populations of Juan Fernandez petrel (VU) , Kermadec Petrel (LC) , De Filippi's Petrel (VU) and Pink-footed Shearwater (VU).
