Site description
This Marine IBA is identified using seaward extensions around breeding colonies. It originates from the Chile Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and falls within the Pacific, Southeast FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 297 km2 and borders the coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 54 m, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 7 and 7.1 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 1.7 and 2.22 mg/m3.

1 species triggers IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. Seaward extensions around breeding colony; Isla Magdalena include key near-colony areas for breeding populations of Kelp Gull (LC) 9108-9108 individuals.
