Site description
This Marine IBA is identified using tracking data. It falls within the Australia Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the Indian Ocean, FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 1361 km2 and is 66 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 44 to 918 m, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 13.72 and 13.98 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 0.39 and 0.8 mg/m3.

Key biodiversity
2 species trigger IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. BirdLife analyses of tracking data estimates that 19286-46286 individuals of Short-tailed Shearwater (LC) from are present at the site during the Breeding (Nov-Apr) life-history stage. 45-412 individuals of Shy Albatross (NT) from Pedra Branca are present at the site during the Incubation (Sep-Dec) life-history stage.
