The site covers an area of 18921 km2 and is 112 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 953 to 3142 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 3.24 m/s, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 5.73 and 7.25 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 0.21 and 0.34 mg/m3.
