The site covers an area of 19535 km2 and is 44 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 120 to 1091 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 3.73 m/s, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 1.86 and 2.65 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 0.21 and 1.18 mg/m3.
