Site description
A 30-km long section of the IJssel river between the cities of Deventer and Zwolle, which lies adjacent to site 047. The site includes the riverbed and the flood-plain (mainly used for dairy farming), and is bounded by the winter dykes. Economic activities include sand and clay extraction.

Key biodiversity
An important roost for geese Anser, but numbers are poorly covered by counts. The mean count of waterbirds in January exceeds 20,000 in total.
