There are three villages around of mangrove forest and behind the Subaim Valley there are 6 units of transmigration area (Dept. Transmigrasi & PPH Maluku 1993).
Key biodiversity
Ten restricted-range bird species present in this area. Eos squamata has high density in this area than other habitat in Halmahera (Purmiasa 1997a).
Non-bird biodiversity: Dugong dugon lives on seagrass beds infront of the mangrove forest (Purmiasa 1997a).

Wood collecting.
Habitat and land use
Mangrove forest in this area is one of the bigest in North Maluku (Purmiasa 1997a).
