Hullo and Sviby are shallow (<4 m) bays on the southern coast of Vormsi island, off the west coast of Estonia. There are coastal meadows and small offshore islets.
Key biodiversity
Hullo and Sviby bays are important staging areas for migratory wildfowl, supporting more than 10,000 ducks and geese at peak counts.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Threats include overgrowth of coastal meadows with reed Phragmites due to undergrazing, recreation/tourism, unsustainable hunting and intensive fishing. The IBA is a planned core area of the West Estonian Archipelago Biosphere Reserve.
