Site description
This site comprises a lake and surrounding mire and swamp, and is situated about 5 km inland from the Northumberland coast. The lake supports Typha and a floating mat of vegetation, with bracken Pteridium and gorse Ulex occurring in drier parts of the site. Human activities include peat extraction. The site is important for wintering wildfowl and waders. Anser anser are from the Icelandic breeding population.
