Site description
A very large wetland in Sudursveit and Mýrar, south-east Iceland. Habitats comprise extensive sedge marshes (Carex, Eriophorum), pools, sandy areas with rushes Juncus, mudflats and brackish lagoons. The main land-use is grazing.
Key biodiversity
Information on birds is limited, but the area is known to be important for breeding wildfowl and waders as well as for staging waterbirds.
