Site description
A shallow (<17 m) sea strait between Hiiumaa island and Vormsi island, with small islets, reedbeds and coastal meadows. The main uses of the area are intensive fishing and marine transport.
Key biodiversity
Hari Kurk strait is an important moulting and staging area for several wildfowl species. Significant proportion (³1%) of national population breeding at site: Larus canus (min. 250 pairs), Larus marinus (min. 40 pairs).
