Located around 36 km south-east of Madiun, Gunung Liman (2563 m) is situated between Kabupaten Ponorogo and Kabupaten Nganjuk, meanwhile Gunung Wilis (2169 m) situated between Kabupaten Tulungagung and Kabupaten Kediri (Anon 1992, Anon 1989).
Agricultural expansion, forest cutting and wildlife hunting (MacKinnon et.al.1982).
Protected areas
There is two conservation areas in this site:- Gunung Sigogor Nature Reserve (190.5 ha) declared based on GB No.23 Stbl 471 on 4 September 1936.- Gunung Picis Nature Reserve (27.9 ha) declared based on GB No. 36 Stbl.43 on 4 May 1924 (Anon 1997, Anon 1998)
Habitat and land use
An extensive block of continuous hill and mountain rainforest on the slopes of the twin volcanoes Liman and Wilis (MacKinnon et.al.1982) and lowland rainforest.
