Site description (2003 baseline)
This area is dominated by spectacular volcano of Gunung Lewotobi, which has two peaks (Laki-laki (2263 m) and Perempuan (1703 m)) which erupted in 1971, 1972 and 1991(Monk 1997).

Key biodiversity
This area is one of five of important areas for birds and other biodiversities, and has some of rare bird species in Flores. Flores Green Pigeon Treron flores occured in tropical deciduous dry forest. Yellow-crested Cockatoo occured near the beach (Trainor & Lesmana 2000).
