A mountainous area in the Cordillera Cantábrica with limestone cliffs, Quercus and Fagus woodland, and alpine grasslands grazed by cattle. The site also includes five protected lakes.

This is an important site for cliff-nesting and forest species.

The main threats are from tourism, fires and quarrying.
