Site description
This Marine IBA is identified using seaward extensions around breeding colonies. It originates from the Canada Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and falls within the Arctic Sea FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 1867 km2 and is 22 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 511 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 1.74 m/s and mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 1.69 and 2.97 °C.

2 species trigger IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. Seaward extensions around breeding colony; Digges Sound include key near-colony areas for breeding populations of Black Guillemot (LC) 1290-2451 individuals and Thick-billed Murre (LC) 9-559650 individuals.
