Site description
This Marine IBA is identified using seaward extensions around breeding colonies. It originates from the Australia Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and falls within the Indian Ocean, Eastern FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 5153 km2 and is 22 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 76 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 2.26 m/s and mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 15.21 and 15.5 °C.

Key biodiversity
2 species trigger IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. Seaward extensions around breeding colonies; Corner Inlet, Curtis Island, Wilson's Prom Islands include key near-colony areas for breeding populations of Short-tailed Shearwater (LC) 9753306-9753306 individuals and Fairy Tern (VU) 60-150 individuals.
