The habitat of Ceuta peninsula is partially degraded with exotic Eucalyptus and Pinus plantations. The city of Ceuta lies within the site.
The site is a major migratory bottleneck, where more than 20,000 storks and raptors regularly pass in spring and autumn, including (seasonal totals in brackets) Pernis apivorus (10,000-48,000 birds), Milvus migrans (10,000-20,000) and Circaetus gallicus (250-3,300).
