Site description
This Marine IBA is identified using seaward extensions around breeding colonies. It originates from the Turks and Caicos Islands (to UK) Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and falls within the Atlantic, Western Central FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 35938 km2 and is 44 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 5507 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 1.77 m/s, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 26.17 and 27.33 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 0.05 and 2.61 mg/m3.

6 species trigger IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. Seaward extensions around breeding colony; Caicos Bank Southern Cays include key near-colony areas for breeding populations of Brown Noddy (LC) 40350-257760 breeding pairs, Bridled Tern (LC) 4950-7920 breeding pairs, Least Tern (LC) 1680-3192 breeding pairs, Sooty Tern (LC) 52800-105600 breeding pairs, Common Tern (LC) 300-510 breeding pairs and Roseate Tern (LC) 390-570 breeding pairs.
